Among the reasons for the improvements were a longer lifting cycle, a renewed work ethic in the team, and better nutrition including the addition of Producers Dairy chocolate milk in the student-athletes’ diets. For years, athletes of all ages have used specially designed sports drinks to enhance their performance. Recent studies, however, have proven the best refreshment for high-performance athletes is chocolate milk.
Since Fresno State lies in the heart of one of the world’s leading dairy regions, the Bulldogs are taking advantage of the recent information. Last Fall, the Fresno State athletics department partnered with California Dairies, Inc. and Producers Dairy to provide chocolate milk for all Bulldog student-athletes.
“There’s no doubt that factored into the equation of our success,” said Bennett. “The student-athletes liked the drink and sometimes that’s half the battle of getting them to drink after a workout, which speeds their recovery and helps build muscle. It’s proven to be the best drink available for athletes and is an important commodity in the Valley, which makes it even better.” The Bulldogs will resume summer workouts and Bennett hopes to see even more strength and speed gains. |
